Why should my child or teen strength train?

It is important to encourage young people to be physically active. Not only does a sedentary lifestyle early in life appear to track into adulthood, a physically active lifestyle during childhood and adolescence may help to prevent some chronic diseases later in life. In the United States, the percentage of children and adolescents affected by obesity has more than tripled since the 1970’s.   Data from 2015-2016 show that nearly 1 in 5 school age children and young people (6 to 19 years) in the United States has obesity. Sedentary behavior, including watching television, playing video games, and other screen time activities, is a primary contributor to the decreasing physical activity trend present in youth across the United States. The combination of increased sedentary behavior and decreased physical activity puts youth at an increased risk for becoming overweight or obese.

  • Understand the benefits of being physically active. Teach them that physical activity has great health benefits like:
    • Strengthening bone
    • Decreasing blood pressure
    • Reducing stress and anxiety
    • Increasing self-esteem
    • Helping with weight management

In conclusion keeping your child active is the primary way to reduce childhood obesity. At Undefeated Fitness we stress an importance on creating a healthier lifestyle for our youth today for a healthier next generation.

Undefeated strength and athletic development sessions are designed to enhance the superior strength necessary for our young athletes to compete at a high level. These sessions are comprised of body weight exercises that are essential for strength development in growing athletes. Start now and begin to lay the foundation in your young stars’ athletic journey.

Undefeated Strength Training 

Undefeated strength training is designed for every athlete. This session is designed to build overall muscle for superior strength. Athletes who participate in strength training see improvements in strength and endurance, bone strengthening and a better chance of maintaining a healthy body composition. Strength training is essential when one wants  to gain a competitive edge on their opponent.

Spring FREE Fitness

This is a great way to start your weekend off right! Spring Free Fitness is a workout group that meets at York Junior High every Saturday morning from 7- 7:30a.m for a mild to semi intense workout fit for all individuals. Bring the entire family out for this unique and fun experience!
